The PG Velocita comes with the Realtek ALC1220 audio codec that's been an industry favorite for several years now.

But if you upgrade your router down the line, this mainboard will be ready, and it should give you a hefty boost in wireless data speeds, especially in situations with lots of competing wireless streams and traffic. (See our guide to what Wi-Fi 6E is all about.) Unless you're upgrading your home or office network along with your desktop, however, you're not likely to benefit from the cutting-edge silicon yet, as Wi-Fi 6E routers are still rare. The Wi-Fi 6 standard officially supports speeds of 2,400Mbps, but Wi-Fi 6E is able to hit faster speeds, up to a theoretical peak of 3,600Mbps. Wireless networking is handled by a Killer AX1675x Wi-Fi 6E module that can theoretically support even more bandwidth than either of the LAN connections. The second wired networking chip is a less capable (gigabit) Intel i219V controller. The primary NIC is a Killer E3100G controller with support for data speeds up to 2,500Mbps.

It comprises two wired NICs and a wireless adapter. A Look at the Networking and AudioĬonsidering its price range, the Velocita sports a competitive networking solution. If you plan on overclocking, Asrock includes a small fan that can be attached to one of the VRM heatsinks to provide additional cooling for the board's 14 power phases. The Z590 PG Velocita provides heat spreaders for all three M.2 slots and relatively large heatsinks over the power circuitry. The preceding link has much more on the nuances of Polychrome and its compatible lighting hardware.īeyond the bright lights, Asrock didn't skimp on the cooling hardware, either.

The onboard lights, as well as the RGB and aRGB headers on the motherboard (for attaching lighting strips and colorful fans), work with Asrock's Polychrome software control, and the Polychrome Sync ecosystem also works with Razer's popular Chroma lighting scheme. It's more flair than I like, personally, but gamers looking for something flashy to mount behind a tempered-glass panel should be delighted. Various shades of gray laid over a black PCB with red highlights give the motherboard an eye-catching appearance exaggerated by aRGB lights. The PG Velocita is easily one of the most colorful Z590 boards that we've seen to date. It earns our Editors' Choice award for enthusiast-grade Z590 boards. The Asrock Z590 PG Velocita ($289.99) fits right into this mold by offering a solid foundation for overclocking and an edgy aesthetic that gamers are sure to like-gamers loyal to Intel's 11th Generation "Rocket Lake" CPUs instead of its newer "Alder Lake" chips, at least. They don't carry quite all the extras and tweak-tools you'd expect to find in elite flagship motherboards (like Asrock's own wildly expensive Aqua series), but they strike an attractive balance between deluxe features and affordability.

The motherboards in Asrock's various Phantom Gaming (PG) series for different Intel and AMD chipsets are positioned as premium but attainable gaming platforms.
